One of our 530 area dealerships who specializes in obtaining auto loans for those with poor credit – or good credit, for that matter – also offers one of the automobile industry’s best Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles: the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: Underrated and Under-Utilized
WHILE POPULAR IN EUROPE, US BUYERS STILL SEEM OBLIVIOUS TO THIS AMAZING “CLEAN” VEHICLE.
On October 10, 2019, just three day before this article was written, online magazine Inside EVs wrote a news article about how the Tesla Model three almost topped the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in sales over in Sweden. 14% of the automobiles sold in Sweden were plug in electric vehicles, and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV tops the list, with 13 total vehicle sales, year to date, more than the Tesla Model 3.
In other European markets, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV also performs very well. In the United Kingdom, for example, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV enjoys a 24.7 percent share of the plug-in hybrid market. As it offers a 28 mile pure electric range before any fuel is used, most people who own one can commute to work and back without using a drop of fuel.

Meanwhile, here in the United States, sales are slow for this amazing plug in hybrid. That is a surprising fact, considering that this Japanese made vehicle has one of the very best factory warranties in the industry, with 10 year / 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty in place. This is a vehicle you really want to take a look at if you’re looking for a new SUV.
What some people might not realize is that, at present, there is a tax credit available to buyers of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. That credit happens to be $5,836 at present. This is the highest tax credit available for such vehicles. The Cadillac CT6 Plug-In used to offer a higher credit ($7,500), but the CT6 is, um, shall we say… “now-departed.”
One thing that will make these incentives go away, however, is if the owners of such plug in hybrids continue the current trend of simply choosing not to plug them in. The government has been keeping an eye on this trend, and stating that the incentives will end if that behavior continues.

The entire point of offering this incentive is to reduce vehicle emissions. I don’t need to mention that such a goal is not accomplished if we fail to utilize the “electric” component of a plugin hybrid-electric vehicle.
PHEVs are at their best when used to commute to and from work. If an owner always charges them overnight and avoids driving them for long distances, that owner will use virtually no gasoline and will avoid the weight of a large battery pack needed by all-electric vehicles such as the Tesla. These benefits are negated, of course, if a driver is too lazy to plug their hybrid back in each night, or if the PHEV is used for long-distance commuting.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a larger option to almost all of its competition, and is thousands of dollars cheaper than the competition as well. Combining this with the unquestionable reliability of Mitsubishi vehicles, and the unbeatable warranty offered, and this is just about a “no-brainer” choice for anyone looking to help make our air a bit easier to breathe. And again, don’t forget that huge tax credit that comes with the PHEV.
West Mitsubishi in Orland, California, offers the Outlander PHEV and practically gives them away. What’s great about this dealership is that they specialize in helping those with poor credit scores to obtain financing. It is not uncommon for a person whose credit score resides in the low to mid-500s to obtain financing through West Mitsubishi’s lenders.
West Mitsubishi also participates as the only certified Mitsubishi dealer for the Bay Area’s CLEAN CARS FOR ALL program, which provides incentives for low-income Bay Area residents in communities disproportionately burdened by sources of pollution to retire their older vehicle and replace it with a hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric, or battery electric vehicle. Those who are eligibile for the Clean Cars for All program can recieve up to $9,500 in credit to buy a PlugIn Electric vehicle. If you are a Bay Area resident who qualifies for this program, contact West Mitsubishi today to start the process.
